How it works
Real carrier data. If a broker doesn't pay a load, it gets reported. If they don't pay TONU, detention, layover, lumper or other accessorials, that gets reported too, so other carriers can see it before they haul.
1. Carriers report what happened
Signed-in, FMCSA-checked carriers file a report on a broker for a specific load: load #, dates, invoice amount and dates, when (or whether) they got paid, and a 1-5 star rating. They can add unpaid charges like TONU, detention, layover or lumper, each with the amount owed, the date requested and whether it was paid, paid late, short-paid or not paid. A rate con or invoice can be attached. It stays private and only RatedPaid staff see it.
2. Reports are reviewed before they're posted
Every report is held as pending until a RatedPaid moderator approves it. Reports with a document get a "Load documented" badge. Notes must stick to facts: dates, amounts, what was agreed. Labels like "scam" or "fraud" aren't allowed. Carriers can edit or withdraw their own reports.
3. Brokers can reply
Each report can have one broker reply, shown right under it.
4. What you see on a broker's page
- Reputation (carrier-reported): star rating, average days to pay, % paid on time, and counts of not-paid, short-paid and double-brokered reports for the last 90 days and all time, with the number of reports behind every figure. Unpaid TONU, detention and other charges are summed up, e.g. how many carriers reported unpaid detention and the total.
- FMCSA records: authority status, authority age (under 6 months is flagged), BMC-84/85 bond or trust, BOC-3, bond cancellations and changes with dates, revocations, and changes we detect in nightly updates.
- FMCSA score (out of 100): a summary of public FMCSA records. It is NOT a credit score and doesn't measure whether a broker pays.
- Court records: federal cases, shown only when confirmed to be about that broker.
- Community threads other carriers tagged with that broker's MC, and quick links to search Facebook, Reddit and BBB or file a complaint with FMCSA.
Who can use it
A free carrier account is required to look up brokers. Signup needs an active carrier MC or USDOT number. If your signup email matches the email FMCSA has on file for that carrier, your account is active right away. If FMCSA has no email on file, we confirm your email and a person reviews the account. If FMCSA has a different email on file, use that one.
